The current layout of Poblenou is based on the “Cerda plan”, which is comparable to the repetitive idea of Le Corbusier’s “Radiant City”. In the near future, this area will undergo change on account of the @22 district. The current state of the street is a static space filled with ready-made elements.

Our approach it’s a behavioral & sociological transformation, conducting a one-on-one survey and two live experiments to extract as much data from the users, using very primitive tools. All users activities and behaviors were mapped out, focusing on what they needed rather than what they had, obtaining astonishing results. The thesis is based on how to provide the users with tools to reach their needs, to design mechanisms to let the user choose rather than imposing a solution. If every user had the choice to create their own need, then the street will become a dynamic pulsating mesh of activities, hence reaching the goal of making the Rambla del Poblenou street a self made one.
